White Sun (The Encounter)

Emperor Huang ruled China around 2600 B.C; which marked the beginning of China as a nation. Many inventions appeared during this period including: money, medicine, clothing, boats, carts, bows and arrows, compass, calendar, astrology, musical scale, palaces, etc and the invention of Chinese characters.

Emperor Huang was seeking for the truth from seventy two masters but all of them knew only about the worldly matters. One day the Emperor posted an announcement in the city that a reward of a thousand gold pieces would be given to the person who could introduce the Emperor to the True Master of Tao.

There was a living Buddha incarnated as a priest who was only thirteen years old and living at a small temple called Small Grove Temple. His name was Kuang Cheng Tzu and his uncle was a soldier taking care of horses. His uncle saw the announcement and removed it from the post and was then taken to see the Emperor.

He reported that his nephew possessed great virtues and wisdom. The Emperor replied: “The ages of all my seventy two teachers are between fifty and sixty years old and they knew the dharma of the worldly but not the dharma of the divine. How is it possible that a thirteen year old boy is able to possess such great virtues?” But the Emperor accepted his recommendation on the condition that if he was enlightened in three days after being initiated, he would award the soldier with a high position, otherwise he would execute him by chopping off his head.

The soldier was very frightened and returned to the temple. He mentioned the matter to his nephew, but Kuang Cheng Tzu regarded the event as a trivial matter.

On the next day the Emperor came with five hundred palace guards. With supernatural power knowing that the Emperor was coming, Kuang Cheng Tzu ordered a boy monk to cut down a tree to block the road. When the Emperor came upon the fallen tree, he realized that he had come without sincerity, and decided to return to his palace and come back through a small road with his General Juen Lien.

Again, Kuang Cheng Tzu ordered the boy monk to block the road, but this time with reeds tied in seventy two knots. When his impatient General encountered the reeds, he was ready to cut the knots with his sword, but the Emperor said one should be humble when one comes to receive the initiation from a teacher, so he asked the General to untie the knots one by one so that he would kneel down and bow when each knot was being untied.

When he arrived at the temple after seventy two bows, he saw the boy monk and asked if this was the Small Grove Temple. The boy monk replied: “Small Grove Temple is only known by a few. Tying the reed as a gate is the secret of revelation. The dharma of the Buddha is just and without comparison of high or low. Do not enter if you are arrogant.”

Obtaining realization from the poem, the Emperor came to the second gate and saw another boy monk using a stick to hit a peach tree. The Emperor asked why he hit the peach tree. The boy monk answered that he is punishing the tree for not bearing fruit. The Emperor asked how long ago the tree was planted. The boy monk answered that the tree was planted three days ago. The Emperor said: “How can the tree bear fruit only after three days?” The boy monk answered with a poem:

“The peach tree planted three days ago did not bear fruit yet, how can one become enlightened after receiving Tao for three days. With a generous heart and cultivating calmly, the time will arrive when the roots are deep and leaves are dense, then the fruit will appear.”

The Emperor came to the third gate and saw an old monk sweeping the ground. He asked for the master and was shown to the east room. The Emperor bowed and entered and saw a child sitting calmly inside. The Emperor kneeled down. Kuang Cheng Tzu said: “I heard my lord has been seeking Tao through seventy two masters. Which one has the true Tao?”

The Emperor answered: “Each teacher has Tao, but the disciple was unable to learn. I would like to ask the noble teacher how could one transcend one’s own life and death?”

Kuang Cheng Tzu answered: “If a person is away from all visible forms, he will not grow. And when wood is away from fire, it will not turn to ashes. Study Tao carefully by following the dharma persistently, then you will succeed.”

The Emperor was enlightened and thanked the teacher before returning to his palace. Later, the Emperor returned to the temple and cultivated Tao diligently until he reached Nirvana.

This is a poem from my Heavenly Teacher, JiGong:

“From ancient to modern times, ten thousands affairs have been changing and disappearing like burning candles. The fleeting existence turns out to be a journey in the dream. Those who realize this deeply are like spring water in the mountain, and the moon in the sky - how leisurely it shines!

Blend into the light of the sun and the moon. Unify with the virtue of the heavens and earth. Be together with the Ever-Existing Old Mom (Lao Mu - God). Get on the same vehicle and ride together with all Light Beings (Buddhas and Bodhisattvas). Explode the sparkle of life and light up the gloomy world. Keep the sources flowing forever and ever then it is not a waste to encounter the Holy Way (Tao) in this life.”

A Tale of Two California Communities

While homes in the Los Angeles area of California can be very costly there are great low-priced suburban areas throughout Los Angeles county that offer all the amenities of the California lifestyle at a small portion of the price. One such residential area is the community of Antelope Valley California, which is located just an hour North of the Los Angeles region. The Antelope Valley’s largest cities are Palmdale California and Lancaster California, which together, are home to nearly 450,000 people. The Antelope Valley is far less costly than it’s big city neighbor to the south (Los Angeles) with less smog, less traffic congestion and a lower cost of living; while still maintaining a city-like environment. Because the Antelope Valley is located in the Mojave desert it can get very hot and dry during the summer and temperature’s can be pretty unpredictable at times. Temperature’s may ascend to 120 degrees Fahrenheit during summer and plunge to just under freezing in the winter. Snow can fall at the Antelope Valley altitude as well, although it rarely does. The Antelope Valley is home to many commuters who drive to and from work each day along the 14 freeway.

If the desert is not your cup of tea, there is a splendid California mountain area just North of the Antelope Valley area called Tehachapi. Situated just about 30 minutes North of Lancaster and 45 minutes outside of Palmdale, in Kern county, the Tehachapi community is a rare place where one can experience all four seasons, none of which are ever extreme. Summers are temperate and winters will bring snowfall just about 4 times each year on average. Tehachapi was listed as one of the optimal areas to retire in California by several magazines and truly has a “small-town” flavour to it. Tehachapi real estate prices are at record lows due to the present economic state, as such there are some wonderful buys to be had on both tract and custom homes in Tehachapi. The location is renowned for its spread out homes and exquisite views, with various small communities within the main city, such as Stallion Springs, Bear Valley Springs and Golden Hills; each offering a unique feel. From Tehachapi to Hart Flat, the are is studded with oak trees along a skyline of picturesque golden hills. If you prefer not to reside in Tehachapi, it’s surely a great place to take a pleasant, restful, vacation in Southern California.

Southern California is probably the most unique place to call home in the entire U.S.A Within a short drive, one can experience the desert, lovely beaches and scenic mountains where activities abound. Snowboarding, body boarding, boating, and mountain climbing are all able to be done by those who call the area home, which is what makes Southern California one of the most desired places to call home.

Selling Your Way To Success

I wonder when we decided to become a sales person. I know when I was at school all I ever wanted to do was join the Navy and see the world. My best mates wanted to be a truck driver or Fireman, Policeman, Soldier, Banker, Doctor, Pop star, Football player and so the list went on.

I have yet to meet anyone who knew when they were young that they were going to be a salesman or woman. So where do we learn our trade? Most of it will be through mentoring, reading and actually learning ‘on the job.’ Here are a few tips to help you continue to grow your wealth and personal happiness through your sales efforts.

1. When cold calling sell yourself and the appointment. Do not even try to sell your product or service. Your purpose for the call is to find out if there is a need for you product or service. If it seems likely there is then make an appointment to introduce your product or service to your prospect.

2. You have two ears and one mouth. Selling is about solving problems. Solving problem is easy if you listen. Rule of thumb: listen at least twice as long as you talk.

3. Your prospect is more interested in themselves and there problems. Most really do not care too much about you and what you have done. Give your prospect time to talk about them and you will have ample opportunity to find out the real problems, needs and wants and what you need to do to make your prospect desire you, your service or product.

4. At your first appointment find out if the prospect can make a buying decision. A simple question like “is there anyone else involved in the decision making process”? Works great If there is, ask if they can be included in this and further meetings. Doing this one thing at every appointment will save you hours of wasted time selling to someone who can’t buy!

5. Dig, dig, dig. Find out what the real needs and wants are. Never ever invent one, you will have a reluctant buyer and a difficult client for the life of the product or service. You will also start to make a name for yourself and company as hard or pressure sellers. This is now treated like a contagious disease in the business world. Once tagged with this label you need to find another career or move on.

6. A positive way to get the most from your prospect is to determine their Dominant Buying Motive (DBM). It is well recognised that people buy on emotion. So why do we as sales people insist on selling them the technical specifications of our products and services? Finding out WHY some one will buy what we have gives us such a powerful advantage over the competition it is almost a crime to use it! So find out what emotion your prospect is going to use? As an example: After asking some great questions such as “what annoys you the most with your current method or service and why?” Listen to the answers carefully; your prospect will give you a lot of personal information using this simple question. The response may be; ” well I hate the way three people have to work on an order. I just want the computer to do it all. If I could do that I would not have the problems with staff being stressed out all the time and not making deadlines” From this the DBM is clearly anger and fear. Anger at the inefficiencies and fear of not having people doing the job properly because they are too stressed. So how does this help you?

Firstly, If your product or service can reduce the number of people working on an order you can reduce the anger, so you could say ” If my product or service were to reduce the number of people working on the orders to two how would that make you feel?” Now you have the prospect ‘feeling’ and it is a positive feeling because you know he wants to reduce it. He will feel good about the solution even though he as of yet does not know what that solution is!

Secondly. Remove the fear. You could say for example “due to the way my product or service operates we are able to automate most of the manual input required. This will reduce the errors and allow your staff to concentrate on the tasks they have do manually, however, they now have more time and are less rushed so the stress levels for the staff are reduced and the jobs go through the system faster with less trouble. How do you feel about that?” Again he will feel good about that and now he is ready for the sale, and because he already wants the outcomes he is pre-inclined to want what you are selling. Easy!!!

7. Now ask for the order. So many times sales people have the order and then talk them selves right out of it. Once you have asked for the order and they say yes. SHUT UP. Stop selling. How To Get The Greatest Possible Muscle Gains… And… Still Have Time Left Over To Just Goof-Off!

The number one thing you need to get from this article is this. Significant increases in the muscular size of any particular muscle group, can not be achieved without similar increases throughout the entire body. Any and all exercise performed has an indirect effect on all the body’s subsystems and muscular structures.

An exercise which primarily involves the legs, produces to varying degrees, muscle growth in all other muscles throughout the body. The relative size of the muscles involved largely determines how great the indirect effect will be. The larger the muscle group, the greater the overall indirect effect on other body parts. Got it. Good

This indirect effect is the result of intensity of effort. If the intensity is low, indirect muscle growth is minimal. If the intensity is high, indirect muscle growth is absolutely incredible. But remember, these muscle gains are not stimulated through the quantity of exercise performed, but from the overall intensity of effort.

Maximizing intensity of effort requires the same style of training for absolutely everyone. That mean you and me. However, individual performance is relative. For example. while the performance of a 100 pound bench press may involve a high level of intensity for one person, a considerably stronger trainee could perform the same exercise with a much lower intensity. But as we now know beyond a shadow of doubt. High levels of intensity must be reached, before an increase in muscle size will be produced. If you train below that particular level, your muscle gains will be practically non-existent.

Although the level of intensity required to produce maximum muscle gains may actually be below maximum intensity, determining exactly when that point has been reached during your workouts is near impossible. Even if the required intensity for maximum muscle gains could be converted into a percentage, you wouldn’t be unable to determine accurately when that exact level is reached during an exercise. Working at one hundred percent, maximum intensity of effort guarantees that this level is always achieved, regardless of whether it is an actual requirement or not. Are you following me?

Look. If maximum muscle gains is your goal, working out with anything less than one hundred percent intensity of effort is not going to cut it. In fact, it’s almost a complete waste of time. Regardless of the actual intensity of effort required, working the largest of muscle groups will produce incredible muscle growth all over the entire body.

Although we may not be entirely sure why, we do know that without a doubt, it does happen. For the best possible muscular gains, the major muscular structures should be trained intensely. If the exercise is intense, brief and infrequent, maximum gains will be achieved. As no muscle can be truly isolated from the body’s subsystems and all exercises have some degree of overall effect on the body, for the best possible muscle gains, only full body workouts should be performed.

As I has explained to you here. Split-routines are in fact physiologically impossible. A training program which ’splits’ the body into muscle groups, doesn’t permit sufficient recovery time for the body overall. As a result, split training programs do not produce maximum possible muscle gains. In almost all cases, they actually prevent them. No exceptions.

Mobile Broadband Customer Service Not up to Mark, Shows Poll

According to a recent research report by Convergys, a leading billing and customer management company, the idea of paying more for a better customer service is something that the UK mobile broadband customers will happily agree to.

The research named Customer Scorecard was conducted in February this year. It was based on responses from 2,143 adults on a YouGov poll. The biggest highlight of the report was 17% respondents saying they were ready to pay a premium for good, quick and responsive customer services. Only 5% said they would select the cheapest option even if it meant getting a poor customer service.

The research is not all bad news for the mobile operators, as according to Jean-Herve Jenn, the international president for Convergys, the data shows that an operator’s revenue can be increased through an improvement in customer service. This is a big opportunity for the mobile operators and will benefit both the company and its customers.

The report also reveals finer details of customers’ expectations. It says that the customers expect a good amount of help and advice while they are trying to select and compare mobile broadband services. Moreover, a major cause of frustration for the customers is that their problems cannot be resolved in the first contact with the support staff and they need to make multiple calls before an issue is resolved satisfactorily.

The alarm bells must be ringing in mobile broadband operators’ offices, and this time is it not just for the customers that they need to act, but also for their shareholders.

I skip meals, why aren’t I losing weight?

A big mistake that lots of people make is skipping meals. They think they are not eating much so they should be losing weight. Wrong!

Your body was designed with the idea that you have to expend energy in order to get food. If you think back a hundred or more years ago, if you wanted to eat something you had to either go hunting everyday or grow your own food. And that’s a lot of work - that’s a lot of physical activity. And even though we no longer have to do this, it doesn’t change the fact that our bodies are still designed this way. So when you skip a meal, your body actually thinks that you’re out in the wild and, for whatever reason, food is hard to come by. This is a built in survival mechanism that all of us have - it’s built in. So when your body thinks food is hard to find, it does two things to protect you from starving. First it slows your metabolism causing your body to slow down and burn less fat. Second the meal you eat after you skip a meal will be converted almost entirely to fat and stored - to protect you from starving. So if you skip breakfast, almost all of what you eat for lunch is converted to fat. We think we’re taking in less food but in reality were causing our bodies to store fat.

Your metabolism is totally controllable by you. You can lose weight easily If you speed your metabolism up naturally and safely.

Increasing your lean muscle mass enables your body to burn more fat as it takes more effort to sustain muscle than it does fat. Therefore, the more lean muscle mass you have, the faster your metabolism is likely to be. Therefore, your exercise regime should include not only fat burning exercises but also some muscle building exercise. Women should note that this does not mean you have to get ‘beefy’ but just tone up your muscles.

Protein also plays an important part in this process. Women should generally consume about 100 grams of protein per day and men 150 grams. This can be quite difficult to achieve unless you take a protein supplement. You then know exactly how much protein you are consuming and it is much easier to control.
