2] You are offered a cashiers check or money order that exceeds the price of the item for sale, the buyer asks you to return the balance exceeding the price of the goods. Sounds good doesn’t it? You are receiving money, how can you lose out here? Your bank will often cash this check and then you normally ship the item and extra cash back to the buyer. Unfortunately that’s just the beginning of your troubles. The bank later investigates the check and discovers it’s a fraud and gets it’s money back from you ! This is after you shipped your goods and returned the overpayment amount. A double whammy !
3] Buyer gets you to ship an item after you think Western Union is sending you money. The buyer cons you by sending a fake email that looks like it’s from Western Union saying you will have funds released to you after sending the shipping/tracking number from Fed Ex, in other words, you’ve shipped the product already. Once you send them the tracking number you’re out of luck, they will receive the item and you later find out Western Union doesn’t have any money for you.
Unfortunately the banks and Western Union are not protecting you as much as you would have hoped or assumed in these cases. Some have suggested they have little incentive as they are making money from these transactions and you are stuck with the bills. Western Union is probably the most commonly used agency for these frauds.
So it’s really up to you to investigate when buying and selling internationally, no one else is going to help you if conned. Sending emails to third world countries law enforcement agencies to investigate the perpetrator is a fruitless endeavor. Even if it occurs within your own country of origin you will still likely not recoup any money.
I’ve painted a bleak picture but this is just of the bad apples out there, there are a majority of decent law abiding people out there making transactions. The rates of fraud are difficult to determine as most people cannot do anything about it after is happens and do not report it. The businesses involved also do not advertise these facts, or simply hide them or provide statements which are obviously overly optimistic to save face (eBay is guilty of this) I’ve heard an estimate of 1 in 100 transactions are actual frauds, eBay has quoted 1 in 40000 !
If a deal sounds too good to be true, trust your instincts and get out while the going is good or research anything suspicious before committing to any transaction. Ultimately you’re on your own when buying and selling internationally.

acquisition dialogue.

Sales personnel, either targeted company employees, or better
yet, contracted independent sales representatives; offer you
the easiest channel to get that targeted company introduction.
It may be too much of a generalization to make, but sales
personnel more than any other function in a company offer you,
the business buyer, five traits that you can leverage to your
advantage.
1) Sale types typically will talk to anyone about anything -
simply contact them, ask your questions or seek their help.
2) Sales personnel are inclined to be “independent operators”,
even within the most disciplined of organizations; they work
their own programs, when and where they want, with relatively
little concern about internal politics
3) Sales people answer their phones, listen to their voice mail,
read messages and return calls because they think you want to
BUY something!
4) Salesman know just about everyone within every branch of the
company and for various reasons have consistent exposure and
often well established relationships with key corporate
decision makers
5) Sales types are very motivated by money! They will especially
talk to you if you can potentially do two things for them:
A) Offer them “easy money”
B) Provide another viable contact for them to potentially
land a better sales position
So… How Does the Deal Go Down?
From anywhere in the country you can call into the corporate
office and ask to speak to a local or regional sales
representative. Once you get their number, simply call them and
introduce yourself as someone who greatly admires their company
and has interest in understanding who within their senior
management can say “yes” to a business merger proposal (be sure
to say only “merger”). Sales types understand and appreciate
this inquiry process because they live it everyday. You have a
person on the other end of the phone who is naturally motivated
to help you. More often than not, all you got to do is shut up
and listen to the information that flows.
If you get any form of resistance or down right rejection,
remember you can always simply thank them for their time and go
call another sales person. If you are hearing cooperation then,
and only then, do you offer a modest referral fee arrangement.
It is critical that you tell the salesman that the referral fee
is standard practice for your firm and that it can either be
paid to them directly, in confidence, upon eventual merger or
acquisition closing, or, you’d be happy to donate the money to
their favorite charity. Most will simply help you for no fee.
To conclude, the referral fee process, be sure to document the
following relevant information gotten from the sales
representative: The spelling of the name of the senior manager,
their official title, confirmation that this manager is the
best contact within the company, a clear understanding of their
relationship with that senior manager (if weak, try another
sales person) and their OK that you can use their name to get
the senior manager to talk with you.
Remember, you really only have one shot to get to that senior
manager, so if you think you need to contact two or three
salesman to validate who really is the key manager to call
about mergers and acquisition inquiries and who of the three
salesman has the best relationship with that senior manager
than it is in your best interest to do so.
Getting to difficult-to-contact executives about acquisition
interests often has to be a premeditated, systematic, creative
process. Like in any selling situation, getting to the “right”
decision maker dramatically increases the probability of sales
success. Incorporate this technique into your company
acquisition qualification process.

Have you been cursed with those lumpy, cottage cheese like areas of fat on your thighs, hips, buttocks, and other parts of your body? There’s a good chance; 85% of women are already afflicted with these same cellulite woes. The term “cellulite” is not a common term around the medical community - it was actually first created in European spas. Then, in the early 1970’s a man by the name of Nicole Ronsard published the book Cellulite: Those Lumps, Bumps, and Bulges You Couldn’t Lose Before. The term “cellulite” then spread throughout America.
If you’re like most women, you are probably wondering what causes cellulite and how you can get rid of it. Well, there are several factors that contribute to the cause of cellulite. Some of these factors are age, genetics, your body fat percentage, your level of hydration, and possibly whether or not you smoke or ingest caffeine.
One of the most prominent and widely accepted causes of cellulite has to due with how the skin is constructed and how the fat around it is situated. In the skin, there are tough strands of fibrous tissue that connect the skin to the rest of the body called the “septa”. The septa anchors at certain points - similar to a net. This net of fibrous - the septa - tissue exists above the layer of fat in your body. However, sometimes fat makes its way through the holes in this net of fibrous tissue and therefore plumps the fat outward. This plumping of fat causes the “cottage cheese” resemblance of cellulite. Also, the fibrous tissue may be tighter in women, which would cause a much more pronounced plumping effect in women in comparison to men.

One of the scary things about calling on executives is that well, they are executives. They are THE decision makers, the Big Kahunas, The Top Dogs!
Executives are the leaders of the pack. Much like in the animal kingdom, they are the “Alpha dogs.” Others pups fall into line when Alpha’s growl and bare their teeth.
Respect for that Alpha’s authority automatically kicks in for many sales professionals who cold call executives. As they try to please, to be seen as worthy, and to be granted an appointment with the top decision maker.
Getting a “Top Dog” appointment is an admirable goal. A goal that quickly turns to disappointment for young pups who are rebuffed and sent down to frolic with the rest of the pack, by the “Bull Dog” (executive assistants) who guards the gate.
When the assistant says, “The executive won’t be interested in this sort of thing.” Young pups turn, put their tail between their legs and whimper as they return to whence they came.
Can young pups, newbie sales professionals avoid this kind of disappointment? You bet they can when, they learn the Top Dog Rules.
Alpha dogs are well matched when sniffing around other Alpha dogs. They know the rules, respect the boundaries, and if/when an alliance is mutually beneficial they will make that alliance.
Alpha dogs and followers are mismatched. As the Alpha dog expects the follower to follow. And the follower expects to behave as a follower.
What the heck does this have to do with sales professionals who call on executives? Plenty!
Successful sales professionals know they must speak in “Top Dog” terms to gain their respect, be seen as a leader, and be seen as another Alpha dog. This posturing is done as the sales pro talks in Alpha dog terms. They know and use the right words, the right language to gain admittance to the executives’ suites. These words earn them the privilege of romping with the Top Dogs.
These same successful sales pros never, ever use the words followers are used to using. You know, those are “permission-based” words that followers habitually use with leaders.
These savvy sales pros use the words Alpha leaders use when communicating ideas and evaluating possibilities.
Phrases such as “May I,” “Can I,” “Would you,” and “Could you” … are the beginnings of permission based, “low-level” conversations. For example:
“May I schedule on his calendar?”
“Can you tell me when to catch him in person?”
“Would you take a message?”
“Could you ask him if I may meet with him?”
The instant you utter such words the “Bull Dog”, executive assistant’s ears perk up as she recognizes you do not belong at the executive level. Reeling from how quickly the executive assistant refers the stunned sales professional to a lower level decision maker … the sales pro wonders, “What just happened?”
And thinks, “I worked up the nerve to call on the executive suites. I was well prepared when I placed the call. Then, I was transferred to the voice mail of a person way down in the organization. Calling executives is a good idea, but an impossible place to schedule a sales call.”
You can schedule executive level sales calls confidently if … you know how to speak their language.
The words on the left side of the table position you as part of the pack. The words on the right side position you as an Alpha Dog in your business arena.
